“Building a market around an innovation is something you learn in the field”: our interview for Temis

Temis Technopole met Joël Agnus and Valentin Reynaud to look back at how SensiTips began, the Micron d'Argent won at Micronora and what it actually means to turn a laboratory technology into a product.

In this interview published by Temis Technopole in March 2026 and updated on 7 October, Joël Agnus and Valentin Reynaud, research engineers in the AS2M department of the FEMTO-ST institute, tell the story of how SensiTips began: years of requests from researchers and engineers who needed to measure microforces, followed by the addition of a metrological dimension to make these measurements reliable and quantified.

The update looks back at the Micron d'Argent (Silver Micron) won at the Micronora trade show, in the “microtechnical components and sub-assemblies” category, against well-established industrial companies. It also discusses the pre-series of sensors manufactured on the MIMENTO platform, intended for microrobotics researchers and integrators, the first units of which have already found buyers.

Finally, the founders share their main challenge: identifying a first priority market and turning research results into a product that meets customers' needs.

The project, incubated by DECA-BFC, receives support in particular from the i-PhD programme, HEC's Challenge+, Bpifrance, the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Region and SATT Sayens.

Thank you to Temis for this conversation.
